Liverpool Are Willing To Spend €100M On Darwin Nunez; Why?
Liverpool have submitted their opening offer for Benfica star man Darwin Nunez. The Merseyside club have submitted a €100M proposal (€80M plus €20M in add-ons), and the Portuguese team are seriously considering the offer.
In recent seasons, Liverpool have been known to be very effective in the transfer market. With the help of top club officials, the Reds have been able to identify players that will suit Jurgen Klopp’s style. Effective deals like Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Thiago Alacantara, to name a few.
The Uruguayan started his professional career with Penarol in Uruguay. He made a “big-move” to Almeria in 2019, and was sold a year later to Benfica after bagging 16 league goals for the Spanish side. His move to Benfica has been successful so far. 32 league goals in 57 matches, coupled with a noteworthy 2021/22 UEFA Champions League campaign for Benfica.
Darwin Nunez is also very capable of flowing with fluid players like Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.
With Manchester City signing Erling Haaland, Klopp recognises that there will be games that a physical striker will thrive better than smooth operators like Diogo Jota and Firmino. The Reds simply do not want to lose more ground to Manchester City when it comes to squad options.
