Manchester City are close to agreeing a deal with Hajduk Split to sign midfielder Ante Palaversa for a fee in the region of £7m, Sky Sports News understands. The 18-year-old holding midfielder is believed to be viewed by City as a signing for the future rather than immediate competition for Fernandinho. Palaversa is yet to graduate to the Croatian senior side, but is captain of their U19s, and has scored three goals in 11 caps. He has broken into the Hajduk Split first team during the 2018/19 season, making 17 appearances and scoring twice for the league's sixth-placed side. Palaversa looks set to become City's second signing of the January transfer window, following the arrival of 21-year-old Japanese defender Ko Itakura from Kawasaki Frontale on Monday. via Sky Sports

Tottenham have reached an agreement to sell Mousa Dembele to Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R&F, subject to international clearance. The 31-year-old Belgium international had not played for Tottenham since November due to an ankle injury and had been chasing a move to China since the summer. Tottenham made the decision to allow Dembele to leave now so they receive a transfer fee, with the player's contract set to expire at the end of the season. Spurs had also accepted an offer from Beijing Sinobo, but the midfielder has opted for a move to Guangzhou, who finished 10th in the Chinese Super League last year. In an interview with SpursTV, Dembele said: "I've always had a good experience here. I go away with an unbelievable feeling and with a certain love for the club. The club is part of my family now." Tottenham defender Serge Aurier was arrested on suspicion of assault after police were called to his home in Hertfordshire on Saturday. Aurier was taken into custody by police before being released without charge and missed Tottenham's 1-0 defeat by Manchester United on Sunday. Hertfordshire Police say a 26-year-old man from Brookmans Park was arrested on suspicion of Actual Bodily Harm and has been released with no further action. A spokesman for Tottenham said: "We are aware of an incident concerning Serge Aurier this weekend."
