Oleksandr Zinchenko says joining Arsenal a ‘boyhood dream come true’

Image
Oleksandr Zinchenko has described moving to Arsenal as a “boyhood dream come true” after joining from Manchester City. The 25-year-old Ukraine international becomes Arsenal’s fifth summer signing after Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira and joins in a deal reported to be £32m. Zinchenko told the Arsenal website: “First of all I would like to say this is a boyhood dream come true, because I was a massive fan when I was a kid. “Since Thierry Henry and young Cesc Fabregas was playing here, I was just enjoying watching those games, that Arsenal. “I’m ready for another challenge. I’m not here just to waste my time and the time of Arsenal because the club is always in front of everyone. “I am here to achieve big things and I hope we can win some titles, and I hope we are going to fight for every title in which we are going to be involved. “Even from the last season, I was watching The Arsenal’s games and I could smell it’s coming, you know? In a parting int...

Robert Lewandowski joins Barcelona

Image
Barcelona have completed the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich. The Pole will sign a three-year deal with the option to extend it for a further year. The transfer fee is said to amount to €45 million in fixed payment, plus €5 million in variables. And while the move has gone through, it comes with a fair bit of problems, the first one being Lewandowski’s wages. Barcelona will have to find a way to register him alongside the already signed Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen and Raphinha. Secondly, Barcelona have no spare jersey number in the first-team squad for the striker. His preferred #9 is with Memphis Depay, who, while linked with an exit, is still in the team. Ansu Fati dons the #10, and Ousmane Dembele has the #7. Either way, Barcelona have seemingly pulled off one of the biggest transfers of the season – signing the Golden Boot winner of the last two seasons. Welcome to Camp Nou, Lewa!

Chelsea confirm signing of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli on four-year deal

Image
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli as the club's second deal since the Todd Boehly-led takeover. The Blues and their coach Thomas Tuchel have made new centre-backs their priority during the summer transfer window following the free transfer departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger. And they have got one reinforcement through the door in the 31-year-old Koulibaly, with others - such as Nathan Ake and Presnel Kimpembe - still potentially to come. Those further arrivals are made all the more likely given there may yet be more defensive exits from Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks, with Cesar Azpilicueta continuing to be linked with a move to join Christensen at Barcelona. Koulibaly, given an impressive eight-year stint in Italy, has long been a feature of gossip columns linking him with a big move away, and now he finally has it. His contract with Napoli expires next summer but Chelsea have decided to act now give...

Serge Gnabry extends Bayern Munich contract until 2026

Image
Serge Gnabry has ended speculation over his future by signing a new contract through the 2027 season. After piling up four Bundesliga titles, two German Cups and a Champions League title, Gnabry is looking forward to more trophies. He said: "I thought a lot about what I want as a player in the coming years, and came to the conclusion that I want to stay at FC Bayern, win everything again here and experience things - in particular celebrating another Champions League title. "It's special because I get to play here with my friends at the highest level. It certainly wouldn't feel the same at a different club." The Germany forward had been linked with a return to the Premier League, with a £34m offer from Chelsea reportedly on the table. Arsenal had also been linked with a reunion for their former academy product, who left the club in 2015 in search of first-team football. Reports suggest that Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann plans to use Gnabry as a centre-for...

Manchester United agree £45M fee to sign defender Lisandro Martinez from Ajax

Image
Lisandro Martinez is set to become Manchester United's third signing of the summer after the Red Devils agreed a £45m fee with Ajax, according to reports. After a prolonged chase for the Argentina international centre back, United now appear to have got their man. Arsenal were heavily-linked with the 24-year-old in the opening weeks of the transfer window, but bowed out once United's interest became known. New United manager Erik ten Hag - the former Ajax boss - had prioritised the signing of Martinez. Martinez, a left-sided defender, reportedly travelled to Manchester on Friday evening ahead of a medical and other formalities necessary to complete his transfer. He is expected to sign on a five-year contract worth around £120,000-a-week. The tactical and physical flexibility of Martinez will give Ten Hag more options in his first season at Old Trafford. Martinez, though usually a centre back, can also play at left-back and as a defensive midfielder. United legend Ri...

Ajax set to clinch record breaking deal for Rangers star Calvin Bassey

Image
Calvin Bassey has played his last game for Rangers as he closes in on a record-breaking move to Ajax in the coming days. Boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst left the defender out of his squad for the friendly win over Blackpool on Saturday after Ajax stepped up their interest in one of the Dutchman's prized assets. Bassey was stand-out performer in the Europa League and Scottish Cup finals last term as he enjoyed a remarkable rise and rise under Van Bronckhorst's guidance during the second half of the season. A deal worth around £20million, which includes a sell-on fee, is now set to be signed and sealed as Rangers bank a huge profit on the former Leicester City kid just two years after he made the move to Ibrox. Van Bronckhorst said: "We heard about the interest in Calvin this week from different clubs. You know that if you have players who perform well the interest will come. “It went to a level where the club thinks the deal might be happening, so that’s why I spok...

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford seeking a fresh start under Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford

Image
Marcus Rashford is desperate for a resurgence of form under new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. The England forward lost his place in the national team last season, as he endured a difficult campaign along with his United team-mates. As well as their collective struggles, which saw the club suffer their worst-ever Premier League finish, Rashford had a tricky time personally - scoring just four goals in 25 top-flight matches. After the anguish of his Euro 2020 final penalty shootout miss, Rashford had the worst possible start to last season as he was forced to miss the opening games following shoulder surgery. The 24-year-old is aiming to put the disappointment of the last year behind him, as he looks to play a vital part in the rebuilding process at Old Trafford. "It is an opportunity to refresh. I am ready to go again," Rashford said. “For me it is a fresh start, something I am looking forward to." Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial will continue to provi...
